A blog about random stuff, but mostly programming. http://arkanis.de/weblog/2025-07-24-arkanis-development-version-5.xml 2026-08-07T19:50:36+00:00 Stephan http://arkanis.de/weblog/2025-07-24-arkanis-development-version-5#comment-2026-08-07-19-50-36-stephan 2026-08-07T19:50:36+00:00
Thanks for your comment. And it's nice to hear that the simple chat was useful. 🙂

I'm really glad places like Neocities are around. Kudos for building something there. It feels like an actual place where people are people and do stuff they enjoy. Not engineered to pray on cognitive biases like so much else is.

Personally I try to avoid web development by now. The values of many web developers are just too far way from what is important to me (minimizing complexity, dependencies, etc.). It's just no longer an environment that makes any sense to me. At least on a technological level. It's kind of an interesting theater of dystopian corporate power play and weird large scale schoolyard group dynamics. But I don't want anything to do with either. So maybe you dodged a bullet there, too. 😉

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and lots of fun making cool things. 🙂
Enthusiastic Reader http://arkanis.de/weblog/2025-07-24-arkanis-development-version-5#comment-2026-07-29-19-54-58-enthusiastic-reader 2026-07-29T19:54:58+00:00
It's very interesting that you are still active, and it is nice to see the website being updated too. I found your website back in around 2022, because I was searching for an easy to set up PHP chat for me and my friends (even though we never ended up using that), and was sooo thankful for that you had just the perfect example of that free to download. That was soo cool, since I was very young, and did not know that much about web development. Now I am more interested in Linux stuff, but still occasionally check webdev news, and have some websites on Neocities.
Anyway, thank you for being active, and making cool things!
